Hi, I’m Charles-Philippe, and last year I began remastering SRAM, a 1987 French text-based adventure game that shaped my youth. Created by Serge and Ludovic Hauduc with Jacques Hemonic and published by ERE Informatique, it was groundbreaking, featuring a text parser that let players explore a medieval-fantastic world, interact with NPCs, and receive witty, game-master-like responses—a magical precursor to today’s AI.
In my remaster, the text parser is replaced with a local LLM with Ollama using Llama 3.1, enabling richer, dynamic interactions and reasoning for next actions. The original 4-color graphics are now 1080p animated visuals, created with DALL·E 3 and RunwayML, with added cutscenes, ambient sounds, and music.
This project is my tribute to the original creators, and I hope you’ll enjoy rediscovering this classic as much as I did bringing it back to life!
